SPLIT SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONERS 

Split system air conditioners consist of 2 units, one internal and another external. The indoor unit intakes warm air and blows out cold air into the room. The outdoor unit contains the compressor and is linked to the internal unit via drain pipes and electric cables. This external unit blows warm air outside. Reverse cycle split systems can be reversed to warm inside your home, by selecting heating on your remote. As well as the usual wall mounted units, split systems also come in floor and ceiling mounted. Another option that you may want to consider are multi head split systems. They consist of multiple indoor units with only the one outdoor unit. Multi head split systems are cheaper to buy then multiple individual systems and can reduce the price of installation if the indoor units are installed relatively close together.

DUCTED SYSTEM

Ducted air conditioning offers whole-house cooling and heating, and often offers moderate multi-zone temperature control capability by the addition of air-louver-control boxes.Ducted systems comprise of a central unit installed in the roof which is powered by a compressor located outside the home. The indoor unit is connected via ductwork to a series of esthetically pleasing outlets installed in the rooms that will require heating or cooling.

 

Advantages

• Minimally affects home decor

• Offers whole house air conditioning

• Very low noise disturbance

 

Disadvantages

• More expansive then split systems

 

 

 

 

 

WINDOW AIR CONDITIONERS

Window air conditioners come in both cooling only or cooling/heating. They are designed to be fitted in window sills but can also be place in the wall. The single unit houses all the necessary components, namely the compressor, condenser, expansion valve or coil, evaporator and cooling coil enclosed in a single box. Since a window air conditioner is a single unit, it takes less effort to install maintain.

 

 

Advantages

• Single unit air conditioner

• Less effort needed for installation

• Costs lesser in comparison to other varieties

 

Disadvantages

• Not suitable for larger rooms

• May interfere with window coverings and decor

• Higher noise disturbance
